Yarra River Running Festival
The Yarra River Running Festival takes place at Westerfolds Park in Templestowe, Victoria. The event offers multiple distances on a marked, chip-timed course and provides finishers with an event medal, post-race refreshments, sponsor giveaways, and an online finisher certificate.
Events include:
- 21.1 km Half Marathon
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 2 km Family Dash
The course is mostly paved through Westerfolds Park and then runs north alongside the Yarra River. There are a few short gravel sections adjacent to the river. Water stations supplying water and electrolytes or nutrition are placed on the course at set kilometre points: Half Marathon at 4 km, 7.5 km, 14 km and 17.3 km; 10 km at 4 km and 7.5 km; 5 km at 2 km.
All distances are chip timed by Multisport Australia. There are no cut-off times for the 2 km, 5 km, or 10 km events. The Half Marathon has a cut-off time of 3.5 hours. Race bibs are printed three weeks before the event and posted two weeks before the event; entrants must register in time to have a name printed on the bib.
The 2 km Family Dash is aimed at getting children involved in outdoor activity. An accompanying adult may run with a child for an additional $10; that adult will not be timed and will not receive a finisher medal.
Volunteer roles are available on race day; listed volunteer benefits include free entry to a future race (up to $60), free morning coffee, and a post-event breakfast. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
