Yankee Doodle Dash 5K, Wilmette

The Yankee Doodle Dash 5K is an annual community road race held as part of the Wilmette Independence Day Celebration and America’s 250th anniversary observance. The event takes place on Friday, July 3 at Gillson Park, located near Lake Avenue and Michigan Avenue in Wilmette, Illinois.

The 2026 edition uses a new route; a course map is provided by the organizer. Registration is set at $40 per participant. Registration closes at 11:59 pm on June 30 for the 2026 event, space is limited, and there is no on-site registration.

Participants receive an event shirt, event swag and a participant medal. Race results will be posted after the event. The race is an outdoor event and will be held rain or shine.

The Dash is scheduled on the same day as other Independence Day Celebration activities in the village, including events at Centennial Park and additional programming at Gillson Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
