Off-Road Triathlon in Oregon
XTERRA Portland is an off-road multisport event held at Hagg Lake in Gaston, Oregon. As part of the XTERRA World Tour, the event offers several triathlon distances that utilize the natural terrain of the Henry Hagg Lake Trail Loop. The courses consist primarily of trail running and mountain biking, with gravel bikes not permitted for the cycling portions.
Participants can choose from three main race distances:
- Full Distance Triathlon: Includes a 1 km swim, 27.5 km mountain bike, and 8 km trail run.
- Sprint Triathlon: Features a 500 m swim, 21 km mountain bike, and 5 km trail run.
- Super Sprint Triathlon: Consists of a 200 m swim, 6 km mountain bike, and 2 km trail run.
The Full Distance and Sprint races are open to both individual competitors and relay teams. The Sprint and Super Sprint categories serve as qualifiers for the XTERRA Youth Tour.
The event venue is located at Bobcat Cove, with designated parking at Boat Ramp C. Onsite amenities include food trucks, and participants receive a meal ticket as part of their entry. A Kids Splash & Dash activity is also scheduled during the event weekend. Camping options are available at Hagg Lake for those staying overnight.
