Event Details
XTERRA New Jersey is an off-road sports event held over two days in April 2026 at Stokes State Forest in Sandyston, New Jersey. It is part of the XTERRA World Tour.
Event Format and Disciplines
The event features a variety of off-road races. On the first day, there are trail runs and mountain bike races. On the second day, multisport events including triathlon, duathlon, and a paddle triathlon take place.
Specific race disciplines include:
- Trail Run: Marathon, Half Marathon, 11K, and 5K distances.
- Mountain Bike: 3-hour endurance race, and 21K and 12K distance races.
- Triathlon: Full Distance (1 km swim, 22 km bike, 10 km run), Sprint Distance (500 m swim, 12 km bike, 5 km run), and a Paddle Adventure Triathlon (2 km kayak/SUP/canoe, 12 km bike, 5 km run).
- Duathlon: 5 km run, 12 km bike, 10 km run.
Some trail runs are noted as qualifiers for the Trail Run World Championship. A mountain bike is required for the bike portions.
Venue and Course
The event is set in Stokes State Forest, described as having rugged beauty, scenic singletrack trails, rolling terrain, and dense hardwood forest. The swim for the triathlon events takes place in Robert Rooke Lake, a calm, spring-fed lake.
Additional Information
The event is chip-timed. The triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon (USAT), and the trail runs are USA Track & Field certified. A participant t-shirt is included for those registered at least four weeks in advance. The event has a no-refund policy, though race protection insurance and a deferral option are available.
