Event overview
XTERRA New Jersey takes place May 2-3, 2026 at Wawayanda State Park, New Jersey. Wawayanda State Park includes more than 40 miles of trails and a lake used for the swim portion of multisport races. The event offers off-road triathlon, duathlon, trail run, mountain bike and gravel bike races, and a paddle triathlon. Race program and logistics
Races include the following formats and distances:
- 42K Trail Marathon (XTERRA Pass Qualifier)
- 21K Trail Half Marathon (XTERRA Pass Qualifier)
- 5K and 10K Trail Runs
- 12K and 36K Gravel Bike Races
- 22K and 44K Mountain Bike Races
- 1000m swim / 39K bike / 10K run Full Distance Triathlon (individual or relay)
- 500m swim / 13K bike / 5K run Sprint Triathlon (individual)
- 2000m kayak / 24K bike / 10K run Paddle Triathlon
- 5K run / 26K bike / 10K run Duathlon
The triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon and requires either an annual membership or a one-day USAT license. Trail runs are USA Track & Field certified; MTB and gravel races are USA Cycling certified. Timing uses ankle chips with five splits and results posted online. Historically, Wawayanda Lake temperatures vary from 59 to 72 degrees at this time of year, so the swim is expected to be wetsuit legal. The organizer states a no-refund policy and offers on-site camping options via event registration.
