About the race
The Wyoming Marathon Races take place near Laramie, Wyoming, with the start and finish by the Lincoln Monument. The 2026 edition is planned for Sunday, May 24.
The event offers four distances:
- Rocky Mountain 50k
- Wyoming Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Medicine Bow Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Vedauwoo 5k (5 km)
All races use an out and back course on hilly terrain. The route follows mostly dirt and gravel roads in Medicine Bow National Forest. The surface is 100% dirt and gravel for the half marathon, and about 77% dirt and gravel for the marathon and 50k.
The Wyoming Marathon Races are described as one of the oldest running events in the state, with the 2025 edition marked as the 48th annual and the 2026 edition presented as the 49th annual. The course remains open for several hours, giving participants time to complete their distance.
