Event overview
The WV Winter Solstice Endurance Run is an all-night club event held in Helvetia, West Virginia on the night of December 20–21, 2025. WVMTR and the HRDO are organizing an overnight looped run on the Helvetia Historic Trail. The event is presented as a fun run rather than a race, although small recognition will be given for the most complete laps and the fastest single lap recorded during the night. Family members are welcome at the aid station; all participants must be 18 years of age or older.
Registration, logistics and facilities
Registration is required on RunSignUp so an e-signed waiver and emergency information are available; there is no registration fee. Event size is limited by a hard cap on participants. Race headquarters and the aid station are at the Star Band Hall, 4916 Pickens Rd., Helvetia, WV 26224. Runners and crew have access to the hall throughout the night. Organizers will provide basic hydration, typical ultra aid station food, warming soups and coffee, and the event is treated as a potluck for additional items. Participants may lay out a sleeping pad and bag at the hall, but must pack up by 9:00 am Sunday morning.
Course
The Helvetia Historic Trail is a 2.9 mile loop starting and ending at the Star Band Hall. The route follows paved then gravel Old Helvetia Road, a hairpin onto double-track farm road, then an unimproved county road back to town. The loop gains and loses about 550 ft of elevation. The trail is marked with red circular metal blazes and will be additionally blazed with reflective tags for the event. The route will be run counter-clockwise.
