Carry Forward 5K - San Diego
The Carry Forward 5K is a fundraising walk and run held by Wounded Warrior Project on August 15, 2026, at NTC Park at Liberty Station in San Diego. The event supports Wounded Warrior Project’s mission to honor and empower wounded warriors; participants raise money to fund programs, connection, and support for veterans.
The event format includes a 5K course that participants may walk, jog, or run. Three optional ways to participate symbolically reflect service experiences:
- Flag: carry a flag to show support and patriotism.
- Fitness: carry a weight to represent responsibilities borne during service.
- Fierce: carry another person to symbolize one warrior supporting another.
Registration is available for individuals and squads. Published fees are $45 for adults through March 31 and $55 for adults from April 1 through event day; youth pricing is $25 for ages 6–17 and free for children 5 and under. Registered WWP warriors, veterans, and active duty military are eligible for promotional rates.
Fundraising is an integrated part of the event; participants can customize fundraising pages and use a dedicated Carry Forward 5K mobile app on Apple and Android devices. Participant kits are distributed during event week and include an event T-shirt, drawstring bag, bib, and related items; registered children receive a bib only. Finish-line medals are provided to participants. Reported event totals include $125,743 raised, 1,386 participants, and 136 squads toward a $300,000 goal.
