Event Overview
The Worst Race Ever is a timed 5k running event held in Bentonville, Arkansas. Despite its name, it is a high-quality race that utilizes electronic chip timing. The event concept uses humor to mock common negative race experiences and misconceptions about running. For the 2026 edition, the theme focuses on the "5k Marathon," a play on how non-runners often confuse different race distances.
The event consists of a single distance:
- 5k (Timed)
The race takes place at the Old Tiger Track, located at 517 Tiger Boulevard. Participants receive a race shirt and a finisher medal. To guarantee a shirt in the preferred size, registration must be completed by mid-August. Registration fees increase for those who sign up during the packet pickup period.
Logistics and Regulations
Packet pickup is held on specific dates leading up to the race at a local automotive dealership. On the day of the event, parking is available at the Bentonville School Administration parking lot or Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. Parking directly at the track is restricted as the area is used for the start and finish lines.
The race uses a timing chip attached to the back of the bib; participants are instructed not to remove this chip and to wear the bib on their outermost layer of clothing. Due to safety concerns, dogs are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
