World Marathon Challenge : event summary
The World Marathon Challenge® is a multi‑leg endurance event in which competitors run seven standard marathons of 42.2 km on seven continents within 168 hours (7 days). The 10th edition is scheduled for Jan 30 to Feb 5, 2027, with marathon legs at Ultima Base (Antarctica), Cape Town (Africa), Perth (Australia), Dubai (Asia), Madrid (Europe), Fortaleza (South America) and Miami (North America). The official race clock begins when the first marathon starts in Antarctica.
The published entry fee for the 2027 edition is USD 50,700. That fee covers the seven marathons, international charter flights between continents (including the specialist jet to Antarctica), meals provided on charter flights, on‑trip medical support, aid stations at each marathon, professional event photography and video for personal use, and event merchandise such as medals and t‑shirts. Shower facilities are provided at each location except Antarctica. The fee does not include travel to Cape Town before the event, accommodation in Cape Town, or the return flight home from Miami; participants are responsible for those items and for food outside of charter flights.
Places are strictly limited and allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis. Entry information states that participants are expected to have strong marathon fitness and experience with back‑to‑back running; all competitors should be in excellent health and consult a doctor before entering.
