World Marathon Challenge 2027: schedule and entry fee
The World Marathon Challenge is a logistical and physical event in which competitors run seven standard marathons of 42.2 km on seven continents within 168 hours. The races take place across Antarctica, Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe, South America and North America. The event is organized as a sequence of marathon legs with international charter flights linking the venues.
The 10th edition schedule for 2027 lists these key dates and locations: latest arrival in Cape Town on Jan 27, briefings on Jan 28 and Jan 29, then marathons on Jan 30 at Ultima Base in Antarctica, Jan 31 in Cape Town, Feb 1 in Perth, Feb 2 in Dubai, Feb 3 in Madrid, Feb 4 in Fortaleza, and Feb 5 in Miami. Organizers note that flights and departures are subject to weather, aircraft serviceability and local conditions.
The published entry fee for the 2027 World Marathon Challenge is $50,700 USD. The fee covers the specialist jet flight from Cape Town to Ultima Base, international charter flights between marathon locations, professionally organised race events at each venue, contingency arrangements for Antarctic weather, meals on charter flights, aid stations, medical support, most shower facilities, event photography and video, and official medals and merchandise. The fee does not include participant travel to Cape Town, accommodation in Cape Town, the return flight from Miami, or food outside charter flights.
