World Giraffe Day 5K Run/Walk : Gainesville, TX
The World Giraffe Day 5K is scheduled for June 20, 2026 at Frank Buck Zoo, 1000 W California St, Gainesville, TX 76240, US. The event program includes an in-person 5K cross country run and a 5K walk through the zoo before the zoo opens to the public, plus a virtual challenge with limited spaces.
Registration opens March 18, 2026 and closes June 19, 2026. Registration fees reported by the organizer are $45 for in-person entries and $35 for the virtual challenge.
Event awards and items are specified for participants. The first 130 in-person entrants will receive a hand-crafted wooden race medal and a race t-shirt. Virtual challenge participants will receive a medal.
The event is presented in partnership with Frank Buck Zoo and Save Giraffes Now (SGN). Frank Buck Zoo houses more than 130 animals, including giraffe. Save Giraffes Now is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on supporting community-led giraffe conservation programs in Africa. Since 2019 SGN has grown to more than thirty giraffe-saving projects, and one project was the subject of a National Geographic film released in fall 2022 titled Saving Giraffes: The Long Journey Home.
