Workington Festival of Running
The Workington Festival of Running is an annual athletic event held in Workington, Great Britain. The event base is located at the Workington Cricket Club, which serves as the registration hub and the finish line for all participants. The festival features a variety of distances to accommodate different preferences.
The available distances include:
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 1 km (Free fun run)
The courses are accurately measured and approved by UKA. Each race includes a lead bike and a sweeper runner to assist with navigation and safety. For the longer distances, runners follow established routes that have been used in previous years, with a finish area positioned on the cricket ground.
Facilities at the venue include showers, toilets, and changing rooms. Participants can access a bar and refreshments throughout the day, and free massages are available to all runners. While on-site parking at the cricket ground is restricted, public parking is located nearby at the local sports centre and multi-storey car park.
All finishers across the various distances receive medals and certificates. Participants in the 13.1 miles, 10 km, and 5 km events also receive drawstring bags. Refreshment vouchers are provided to those completing the 10 km and half marathon distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
