Event Overview
The Workington Festival of Running offers four race distances: a Half Marathon (13.1 miles), a 10 km, a 5 km, and a free 1 km fun run for kids. Registration and the finish for all races are at Workington Cricket Club.
Registration and Entry
Registration opens at 8:00 and closes at 14:00 on race day. Entries are also available on the day, subject to a maximum of 200 runners per race. A discount is available for runners entering both the 5K and 10K races online. On-the-day entries incur an additional fee.
Entry fees are:
- Half Marathon: £24 (£22 for affiliated runners)
- 10K: £14 (£12 for affiliated runners)
- 5K: £8 (£6 for affiliated runners)
- 1K Fun Run: Free
Withdrawals and number swaps are allowed until a specified date, after which refunds are not guaranteed.
The Course
All races start at the same location as in previous years and finish on the Cricket Ground. The courses are accurately measured and approved by UKA. There is a lead bike and a sweeper runner for all races. Cumberland AC runners will guide participants unfamiliar with the area to the start.
Facilities and Logistics
Parking is not allowed at the Cricket Ground without prior permission. Parking is available nearby at the Sports Centre and Multi-car Park. Showers, toilets, and changing rooms are available. A bar, refreshments, stalls, and children’s entertainment will be provided throughout the day.
Prizes and Perks
Presentations occur throughout the day after each race. Prizes are awarded to the first three male and female finishers in most races, with additional age category prizes in the Half Marathon and 10K. All finishers receive a medal, certificate, and drawstring bag. Participants in the Half Marathon and 10K also get free refreshment vouchers. Free massages are available to all runners.
