The Woodmonster Trail Race is a 10-mile trail event held on June 28, 2026, with start and finish at the Chabot Space & Sciences Center in Oakland. The course runs through Redwood Regional Park and Skyline Ridge, featuring single-track trails, multiple climbs and descents, and a notable sustained climb known as the Woodmonster.
The route description includes West Ridge, East Ridge, Stream, Tres Sendas, Star Flower, French, Madrone, the Redwood Bowl (around mile 4.6) and Skyline Gate, with aid stations positioned along the course. Water stations are located at Stream/Tres Sendas and the Redwood Bowl. Free parking is available at the Chabot Space & Sciences Center.
The race uses a reverse handicap start system with staggered start times based on age groups. Pricing tiers are set for early bird, regular, student, and race day entries, with student pricing notably reduced.
A timed Woodmonster Hill Climb covers a 0.8 mile climb section and awards premiums for fastest times on that segment. A team competition recognizes the team with the most finishers. Post-race snacks are provided to registered runners. Organizers request volunteers to assist with course marking, check-in, monitoring and course sweeping.
