Event Overview
The Woodinville Turkey Trot is a holiday community sports event held on Thanksgiving morning in Woodinville, Washington. The event takes place at Wilmot Gateway Park and utilizes the Sammamish River Trail for its courses. Participants gather in downtown Woodinville for a morning of physical activity that supports the Woodinville High School Boosters Wrestling Team through sponsorship dollars and a portion of the registration proceeds.
Race Details
The event features several distances and formats to accommodate different types of participants:
- 5K Run/Walk: A flat, fast out and back course on the paved Sammamish River Trail.
- Kid's Dash: A 200-yard course on the trail designed for children aged 6 and under.
- Virtual 5k: A 3.1-mile option where participants select their own route and submit their times remotely.
The 5K event uses chip timing, where the official time begins once the participant crosses the timing mats under the arch. To manage the flow of the race, runners organize themselves according to their expected running pace.
Festive Elements
The morning includes a Kids Parade accompanied by the Woodinville High School Marching Band. Participants in the 5K and virtual categories receive an event t-shirt. The Kid's Dash takes place on the trail and concludes under the main start and finish arch. The virtual category allows participants to complete the distance independently, though these participants are not eligible for age group awards.
