Womens Night Challenge
The Womens Night Challenge is a women only night trail event in County Wicklow on 2 October 2026. The main route is 7.00 km with 277 m of climb and follows the Sugarloaf Way. The course is fully marked and GPS devices are allowed. The event is classified as difficulty level 5, describing easy terrain, 200 m to 500 m ascent, and a distance in the 6 km to 10 km range.
Mandatory kit is Level A - Basic and specifically includes a showerproof, windproof jacket. Organisers also require trail runners and a torch suitable for running at night, preferably a head torch. A back up torch or spare battery is recommended. The final kit to be carried may be confirmed at registration. All runners must be able to carry the required items; random checks may be carried out and failure to have required items may lead to denial of entry or disqualification.
The event is an introductory night challenge for running, walking or hiking to encourage and promote women s participation in night running events. A sweeper will be present on the route. Prizegiving and the finish line are at the GAA Club. Entry fees will be donated to Bray Women's Refuge.
