Women's Day Celebration Run
The Women's Day Half Marathon and 5K Fun Run takes place in Bakersfield, California, to celebrate "Dia de la Mujer" or Women's Day month. The event is held at Yokuts Park and is themed "She runs the World" to acknowledge the increase of women in the sport of running. While the event focuses on celebrating women, participation is open to all genders, with male age group divisions included for awards.
The course is described as flat and fast, starting and finishing within the park area. Participants can choose from several different event distances:
- Half Marathon
- Women's Day 5K
- 2 Mile Walk
- Kids Race
Participants in the Half Marathon receive both a hoodie and a shirt. Those registered for other distances by February 28 receive a hoodie, while those who register after that date receive a shirt. All finishers receive a unique medal, and participants may also earn an extra medal as part of the Reyes Running Series.
Post-race amenities include music, tacos, and aguas frescas. Awards are presented for age group winners in both the Half Marathon and the 5K distances. Bib pick-up is available only on the morning of the event at the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
