Wolfman Triathlon and Trail Runs
The Wolfman Triathlon and Trail Runs is an off-road multi-discipline event held in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Known as one of the original off-road, down-river triathlons, the competition takes place in White Lake at the Gardner Dam Adventure Base. The event features a variety of registration options for both the triathlon and dedicated trail running distances.
The triathlon consists of three distinct segments:
- 3-mile paddle: Participants use kayaks or canoes on a Class II section of the Wolf River, starting north of Langlade and finishing at the DNR landing.
- 13-mile bike: This technical mountain bike segment traverses the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, utilizing the Nicolet Roche trail system which includes singletrack with various climbs and descents.
- 3.75-mile trail run: The running portion begins with a bridge crossing over the Wolf River and continues along rugged forest paths.
In addition to the triathlon, the event offers two trail running distances:
- Wolfman Heavy 5K - Sheena's Run
- Wolfman Heavy 10K
Participants can enter the triathlon as a solo competitor, as part of a tandem pair, or in a relay team. The race utilizes a staggered start with 30-second intervals. Located within the scenic terrain of the Wolf River area, the event also includes a post-race party and provides options for on-site camping.
