Wolf Moon trail half marathon
The Wolf Moon trail half marathon takes place on 23 January 2027 around Sutton Scarsdale. The event is an out and back trail race that celebrates the Wolf Moon, the name given to the January full moon. The distance is a half marathon.
The course starts from Race HQ at Rock Lane in Sutton Scarsdale and runs through Sutton Spring Wood before climbing to the Five Pits Trail. Runners follow undulating trail terrain to a turning loop where an aid station will be available. The return follows the same route on a trail that may be darkening as the race progresses.
Finishers receive a Wolf Moon medal and can have cake and hot drinks by a campfire at the finish area. Free car parking is available at Race HQ, the lane, and Sutton Scarsdale Hall.
Entries open 14 August 2026 and close 16 January 2027. The minimum age is 18 on the event date. Entry fees listed are UKA Member £27.00 and Non Member £29.00. The race has a 3 hour 30 minute time limit and includes an optional 30 minute earlier start for participants who do not feel confident running at dusk or in the dark. This is not a competitive wave start and is not intended for people who expect to finish inside 2 hours 30 minutes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
