Wolf Lake 5k
The Wolf Lake 5k serves as a fundraiser for the Hegewisch Community Center, a 501(c)3 organization. The event is held entirely within the William Powers Conservation Area in Chicago. Participants follow a route that begins at the visitors center and travels north through the park to the state line before returning to the finish line.
Available distances include:
- 5 km running race or family run/walk
- Kids Run for participants under 12 years old
The 5 km event is open to families; each family registration includes one T-shirt. The Kids Run is a short race located near the finish line.
A specific feature of the event is the First Responders Challenge. This category provides medals to the three fastest participants who serve as police officers, firefighters, or EMTs. All participants in the event receive a commemorative race T-shirt and a goody bag. Registration fees increase as the event date approaches, with options for early registration or race day sign-up. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
