Wolf Creek Wrangle
The Wolf Creek Wrangle is a trail running event held on September 19, 2026, near Wolf, Wyoming, at the historic Eatons' Ranch, located about 20 miles outside Sheridan on the eastern slopes of the Bighorn Mountains. The ranch covers roughly 7,000 acres and is operated by five generations of the Eaton family.
The course is described as rough and wild single track with natural obstacles left in place. The route may include rockslides, overgrowth, and other untrimmed trail features; participants should expect to run through or over such obstacles. Organizer notes also mention possible bear sightings and sections referred to as the "Jeff Way," where the trail is left intentionally untamed.
Three distances are offered:
- 5 miles
- 7 miles
- 13.1 miles
Event activities include post-race food, music, and beer. A special lodging discount at Eatons' Ranch is available for participants in the 7 mile and half marathon distances who stay the weekend.
Proceeds from the event benefit Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns and support affordable housing efforts in Sheridan County, Wyoming. The event is scheduled annually on the third Saturday in September. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
