Hackney Moves
Hackney Moves is a weekend festival of sport, entertainment and community celebration in East London, centred on Hackney Marshes and Homerton Road. The programme features a headline half marathon alongside shorter races, a fitness festival and a vibrant event village on Hackney Marshes.
The half marathon covers 13.1 miles and passes local street art, with live music and spectator support along the route. The weekend also includes free community events such as a Community 5K, a separate Hackney 5K and a Schools' Challenge. The event has used closed roads and presents a festival atmosphere with fitness classes and event stalls in the village.
For 2026 the festival weekend is scheduled across 16 and 17 May. The Hackney Half has sold out in consecutive years; general entries have sold out and additional entries are available through fundraising for charity partners. Locations named in event materials include Hackney Marshes Centre and Homerton Road, London E9 5PF.
