Event overview
The Wixom Downtown Development Authority will hold the 10th annual Derby Day races in early May 2026 at Sibley Park in downtown Wixom, Michigan. The event includes three distances:
- 1 Mile Fun Run
- 5K
- 10K
The 5K and 10K routes use the Michigan Airline Trail, which is part of the Great Lake to Lake Trail. The 1 Mile Fun Run goes through downtown neighborhoods. Participants receive a finishing medal, a Derby Day wristband, and a t-shirt; registering by April 5 guarantees a 10th anniversary t-shirt while supplies last. A portion of each registration fee - $5.00 - will support Camp Casey and its programs.
Logistics and awards
Packet pick-up is scheduled for the day before the race at the City of Wixom Municipal Campus; race-day packet pick-up is available at Sibley Park. Onsite registration is available the morning of the event and all on-site transactions are cashless - a credit or debit card is required. Overall male and female winners of the 10K and 5K receive gift cards to a downtown Wixom restaurant. Placement pins are awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in age categories from 19 & under through 70 & older. Children can visit the Wixom DDA tent for a temporary tattoo and a Dairy Queen coupon.
