5km Coastal Run in Wirral
The Wirral Seaside Runs is a long-standing series of evening races organized by Pensby Runners. This event, taking place in late June, is the fourth race in a six-month series that occurs on the last Wednesday of every month between March and August. The competition is open to participants aged 11 and over, including club athletes and individuals new to organized running.
The course is set at 5 km and is characterized by its flat terrain. The race route follows:
- A 5 km point-to-point path from Leasowe Lighthouse to Harrison Drive.
The run begins near Leasowe Lighthouse in Moreton. Participants follow the sea embankment, traveling along the coastline to reach the finish line located near the Lifeguard Station at Harrison Drive. Because the course is a point-to-point layout rather than a loop, many participants run back to the starting car park after finishing, or arrange their own transportation from the finish area.
Participants can collect their race numbers on the day of the event from a registration desk situated at the lighthouse. Runners who participate in multiple events in the series are encouraged to keep their assigned race number for use in future races within the same season. The event also provides a specific entry category for guide runners who are assisting other participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
