About the race
The Winter Winds Road Races are held at the Sandra Moon Community Complex in Huntsville, Alabama. The event features separate 2 mile and 4 mile road races, an option combining both races for a total of 6 miles, and a free 1/2 mile fun run in the parking lot behind the school. All race activity is located behind the Sandra Moon Community Complex in the parking area.
Courses are USATF certified and the 2 mile and 4 mile courses are State Age Record Eligible. Awards are given to top male and female overall finishers and to masters (40+) overall. Additional age group awards are also offered. The event is part of the Huntsville Track Club Grand Prix series.
Registration information varies by race. Registration opens on October 1, 2026 for the main races and generally closes on January 30, 2027; the fun run has separate closing arrangements on the event date. Published registration fees are $20 for the combined 6 mile option, $15 for the individual 2 mile and 4 mile races, and no fee for the 1/2 mile fun run.
