Winter Solstice Fun Run : Portland
The Portland Winter Solstice Fun Run is an annual running event offering multiple distances on a mix of road, foreshore and trail terrain. The event includes organized courses through the Fawthrop Lagoon and foreshore, sections of the Great South West Walk, and a town-to-lighthouse route along Scenic and Cape Nelson Roads. The organiser donates two dollars from each entry to Beats Cycle for Hope.
Distances and entry fees include:
- 1 km, Kids Dash, free
- Irish Mad Mile, entry fee $20
- 9 km, ProFeet Lagoon & Foreshore, entry fee $50
- 15 km, Lighthouse to Lighthouse via Scenic & Cape Nelson Roads, entry fee $70
- 25 km, Lighthouse to Lighthouse trail including Great South West Walk elements, entry fee $90
Courses are not suitable for prams or dogs. Buses transport participants from the Ploughed Field to start locations for select distances. Courses close at 12:30 pm and the 25 km race has a four-hour cutoff. Registration is open through race day, and there are on-the-day entries available.
