Winter Hourglass Run/Ruck/Carry : Soldotna, Alaska
The Winter Hourglass is a winter endurance event held on February 21, 2026, at Soldotna Creek Park (251 States Ave, Soldotna, AK 99669). The event uses a repeating round format where each round gives athletes less time to complete a loop; it begins with 30 minutes for the first round and reduces by one minute each subsequent round. Maximum event length is under six hours. Final standings are based on total loops completed and last athlete standing where applicable, with separate results by division.
Distances and primary formats:
- Run : 2-mile loop
- Ruck : 1-mile loop
Divisions also include cross-country Ski (loop distance aligned with the hourglass timing, weather and trail conditions permitting), Loaded Carry (implements and loads provided; carries explained before the event), Hybrid (run the 2-mile loop plus 10 burpees each round), and Kids Run and Kids Ruck.
Ruck participation may be unweighted for newcomers or those managing injuries; standard optional weights listed are Men 35 lb and Women 20 lb. On-site support includes staff, an aid station with hot drinks, and a warm-up area. Every participant receives a swag bag that includes an official Hourglass event T-shirt. Top finishers in each division will receive an invitation to the Ultimate Hourglass event in Anchorage as a qualification reward. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
