Untimed Triathlon in Nikiski
Tri Nikiski is an untimed multisport event held in Kenai, Alaska. The event takes place at the North Peninsula Recreation Service Area (NPRSA) and utilizes the Illiamna Loop for the running portion. The competition offers several formats for adults and children.
The adult courses can be completed individually or as a relay team of two or three people. The adult distance consists of a 500-yard swim, a 10.6-mile bike ride, and a 5k run. The bike course features mostly gravel surfaces.
The youth event is open to participants aged 7-13 and offers two distinct options:
- Kids Short Course: 1 lap swim, less than 2-mile bike, less than 1-mile run.
- Kids Long Course: 2 lap swim, less than 2-mile bike, less than 1-mile run.
Young participants have the option to begin their swim portion by using the water slide; however, their timing starts when they enter the water at the bottom of the slide. The run for all participants follows the Illiamna Loop trail. This year the run course is directed in reverse compared to previous versions, meaning the route includes a downhill section on the large hill near the finish.
