About the race
The Wings for Life World Run in Wolverhampton is an app-based, mass-participation event taking place on May 10, 2026 at East Park, Main Entrance (Hickman Avenue), Wolverhampton. The event has no fixed finish line; runners and wheelchair participants move ahead of a Virtual Catcher Car and stop when they are overtaken.
The route follows wide, paved park paths in a loop of about 1.5 to 1.7 km. The course runs through green open spaces and tree-lined areas on a flat, runner-friendly surface. The route is described as accessible for running, walking, pushing a stroller, and using a wheelchair. The event site notes an on-site refreshment station, local setup, race numbers and timing arrangements.
Participation is app-based: participants use a mobile app to take part in the race and to link their performance to the Virtual Catcher Car. The Virtual Catcher Car begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start at 14 km/h and then increases speed until all participants have been caught. The event is organised by Wings for Life World Run and lists partners including Adidas. All donations and entry fees are directed to spinal cord research projects.
