Wings for Life World Run - Winnipeg
The Wings for Life World Run in Winnipeg is part of a global running event that follows a unique format. Instead of a traditional finish line, participants compete against a Virtual Catcher Car through a dedicated mobile application. The event is open to both runners and wheelchair participants, with the course located at St. Vital Park.
The route starts at the St. Vital Park Picnic Shelter and utilizes the road network within the park. The race dynamic is defined by the following mechanics:
- Participants begin their run at a synchronized time.
- The Virtual Catcher Car starts 30 minutes after the initial launch.
- The car maintains an initial speed of 14 km/h and gradually increases its pace.
- An individual's race ends once the virtual car overtakes them on the app.
The venue includes a refreshment station and local event setup. All entry fees are donated directly to spinal cord research projects. Participation requires the use of the Wings for Life World Run App for timing and tracking. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
