Wings for Life World Run Locations - Vancouver
The Wings for Life World Run is a global event designed for runners and wheelchair participants. The race features a unique format where competitors do not head toward a finish line, but instead stay ahead of a Virtual Catcher Car managed through a mobile application. The virtual vehicle begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start at a speed of 14 km/h, gradually increasing its pace until all athletes have been overtaken.
The Vancouver event takes place on a 2.5 km section of the Sea Wall. The route runs between Sutcliffe Park on Granville Island and Triangle Park near Science World. Participants complete back-and-forth loops, with each full circuit measuring approximately 5 km.
The course consists of the following characteristics:
- Asphalt surface
- Step-free path
- Flat terrain suitable for wheelchair participants
The event provides a local setup at Sutcliffe Park, including a refreshment station and race number management. Timing is handled through the mobile app. All entry fees and donations are contributed directly to spinal cord research projects. Participation is subject to the final approval of the Vancouver City Permit. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
