Wings for Life World Run Locations - Vancouver
The Wings for Life World Run in Vancouver is an App Run event where participants compete against a Virtual Catcher Car. Instead of running toward a static finish line, athletes maintain their pace until they are overtaken by the digital vehicle within the event application. The Virtual Catcher Car begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start at a speed of 14 km/h, steadily increasing its velocity until the final participant is caught.
The event takes place at Sutcliffe Park on Granville Island. The course follows a 2.5 km section of the Sea Wall between Sutcliffe Park and Triangle Park near Science World. Each completed out-and-back loop totals approximately 5 km. The entire route consists of asphalt and is step-free and flat, ensuring it is accessible for wheelchair participants.
As part of a global movement, 100% of the entry fees and donations are allocated to spinal cord research projects. A refreshment station and local setup are provided for participants on-site. Runners and wheelchair users can track their progress and distance through the mobile app.
