Event Overview
The Wings for Life World Run returns to Sydney on May 10, 2026. This event features a unique global format where there is no stationary finish line. Instead, participants use a mobile app and race against a Virtual Catcher Car. This digital vehicle begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start at a speed of 14 km/h, gradually increasing its pace until it passes the final participant.
Course Details
The run takes place at the Royal Randwick Racecourse. The course consists of a loop approximately 1.1 km in length. The route begins outside the Winx stand, weaves toward the track side, and passes the Old Members stand before returning to the starting point. The terrain is a mix of concrete and turf. For wheelchair participants, a specific route is available that consists of 100% concrete along the track side of the course.
Participation and Mission
The event is open to both runners and wheelchair users. Participants must download the event app to track their progress and receive timing results. A refreshment station is provided on-site for those taking part in the loop. This event serves a charitable purpose, with 100% of the entry fees and donations directed toward spinal cord research projects. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
