Wings for Life World Run Locations - Ottawa
The Wings for Life World Run is a global running event designed for both runners and wheelchair participants. The Ottawa event takes place on May 10, 2026. This race features a unique format without a traditional stationary finish line. Instead, participants compete against a Virtual Catcher Car that tracks progress via a mobile application.
The route begins at the Dow's Lake Pavilion and follows the scenic pathway along the Rideau Canal. Participants run on a mostly flat, paved path that winds along the water. The course offers a mix of urban landscapes and green spaces, providing views of the canal and surrounding parkland in central Ottawa.
The Virtual Catcher Car starts 30 minutes after the initial race start at a speed of 14 km/h. It steadily increases its pace until every participant has been overtaken. This event serves a charitable purpose, as 100% of all entry fees and donations are directed toward spinal cord research projects.
