Wings for Life World Run Minneapolis

The Wings for Life World Run in Minneapolis is a global charitable event where participants run to support spinal cord research. This specific event takes place at Boom Island Park, with the starting line located at the parking lot near the 8th Ave bridge. The course features scenic trails along the Mississippi River, offering views of the city's historic areas and landscape.

The race follows a unique format without a traditional stationary finish line. Instead, participants use a mobile application that features a Virtual Catcher Car. This digital vehicle begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start of the race. Initially moving at a speed of 14 km/h, the car steadily increases its pace until it overtakes every runner and wheelchair user on the course. Once a participant is passed by the virtual car, their individual race concludes.

This event is fully accessible to wheelchair participants. Local amenities include a refreshment station and timing services managed through the app. All entry fees and donations collected from the event are allocated directly to spinal cord research projects.
