Wings for Life World Run Glasgow
The Wings for Life World Run is a global event where participants compete simultaneously to support spinal cord research. The Glasgow edition is an App Run event held at Kelvingrove Park. This race is open to both runners and wheelchair participants, who move side by side along a route through the park landscape.
The event features a unique format without a fixed finish line. Instead of a set distance, participants race against a Virtual Catcher Car. This digital vehicle begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start signal. It starts at a steady speed of 14 km/h and progressively increases its pace until it passes every participant. Once a runner is overtaken by the Virtual Catcher Car, their individual race concludes.
Participation requires the use of a dedicated mobile application which tracks individual progress and provides timing. The event includes a local set-up with a refreshment station for those taking part in the Glasgow location. All entry fees and donations from the event are allocated to projects focused on finding a cure for spinal cord injury. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
