Wings for Life World Run - Glasgow
The Wings for Life World Run is a global running event where participants compete simultaneously across different locations. In Glasgow, the event takes place at Kelvin Grove Park. This App Run event allows participants to run or roll together while using a mobile application to track their progress and distance.
This event uses a moving finish line format. Instead of a fixed distance, participants are pursued by a Virtual Catcher Car. The race begins with runners starting their routes, and the Virtual Catcher Car starts its pursuit 30 minutes later. Initially moving at 14 km/h, the car gradually increases its speed at set intervals. Once the virtual car overtakes a participant, their individual race is complete.
The event is accessible for both runners and wheelchair participants. The route is set within the grounds of Kelvin Grove Park, where local participants can meet to run as a group. All entry fees and donations collected from the event are allocated directly to spinal cord research projects. Participants must use the dedicated mobile app to manage their timing, race number, and tracking during the event.
Distances are determined by how far each person can travel before being overtaken: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
