Wings for Life World Run - Bath
The Wings for Life World Run is a global sporting event held at multiple locations, including Bath. This specific App Run Event takes place at the University of Bath athletics track. The course consists of a 4.6 km lap around the university campus. Both runners and wheelchair participants are eligible to participate in this race.
The event utilizes a unique moving finish line format. Instead of a fixed distance, participants race against a Virtual Catcher Car. This digital vehicle starts 30 minutes after the runners across the globe begin their race. The car maintains an initial speed of 14 km/h and gradually increases its pace over time. When the Virtual Catcher Car passes a participant on the mobile app, their race is complete.
As part of a global movement, the event focuses on contributing to medical advancements. All entry fees and donations collected from the event are allocated directly to spinal cord research projects. The local setup in Bath includes refreshment stations for participants during the run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
