Windsor Dorney Lakeside Marathon
The event takes place at Dorney Lake, Off Court Lane, Windsor, Berks, SL4 6QP, with the race both starting and finishing on site. The course is traffic free and flat and is routed inside the lake grounds. Organiser information is listed under RunUk.
The venue offers free car parking next to the start area. Access is possible by car or public transport but there are no direct public transport links to the site; the nearest train station is Taplow, which is about a 10 minute drive, a 17 minute bike ride or a one hour walk to the main entrance off Court Lane. Pedestrian access is only via the Main Entrance off Court Lane; there is no pedestrian access from the Thames Path, the Sustrans path on the north side of the lake, or from Boveney Road. Attendees are asked not to park on local roads including Marsh Lane, Court Lane and Boveney Road.
Facilities and services noted for participants include chip timing with immediate result posting, a free baggage drop area that will be cordoned off but for which the organiser is not responsible for valuables, and finish-line items for finishers that include a medal, water, juices, fruit and a chocolate bar. The published cut-off time for the race is 5 hours 20 minutes. Entry is open to entrants aged 18 and over. Reported entry fees are in the range of £37 to £39.
