Wild Turkey Trail Runs
The event takes place at Valley Falls State Park, east of Fairmont, West Virginia. It is a free trail race organized by West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners (WVMTR). The course consists of a moderately difficult 10-mile figure-8 loop with a single aid station located under a park shelter next to the parking area.
The available race distances are:
- 50 miles
- 50 km
- 25 km
- 10 miles
- 5 miles
Food and drinks like Tailwind and Gatorade will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring their own fuel as well. The race is free, but there is a tradition of bringing your own food to contribute to the aid station. Race shirts are available for purchase separately. Finishers receive free giveaways such as car stickers and homemade medals. There are cut-off times in place for the longer distances to ensure all runners are off the course by a certain hour.
