Wild Turkey Trail Runs : Valley Falls State Park, Fairmont WV
Wild Turkey Trail Runs is a free trail event held at Valley Falls State Park on August 22, 2026. The event offers multiple race distances and a single central aid station located under a large park shelter adjacent to the parking area.
The course is a moderately difficult ten-mile figure-8 loop that is marked for participants. Elevation gain is approximately 175 ft per mile. The aid station supplies food and drinks including Tailwind and Gatorade; participants may bring additional fuel. The aid station’s location next to the parking lot allows use of a vehicle as a personal aid point between loops.
Race shirts are available for purchase for $25; the last day to reserve a shirt is July 30, 2026. Finishers receive small giveaways such as car stickers and homemade medals. Registration for the event closes on August 19, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET.
The event is organized by the West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners club. Yearly club membership costs $10 but is not required to participate. There is no camping at Valley Falls State Park; nearby camping is available at Coopers Rock and Tygart Lake State Park. Volunteers are requested to notify the race director if available.
