Wild Turkey Trail Runs
Wild Turkey Trail Runs is a free trail running event at Valley Falls State Park near Fairmont, WV on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Distances offered include:
- 50M
- 50K
- 25K
- 10M
- 5M
The course is a moderately difficult 10-mile figure-8 loop with a single aid station located under a large park shelter adjacent to the parking area. The loop is marked and has an approximate elevation gain of 175 ft per mile. A Strava route is provided for the 50k and can be exported as a GPX file. Course map, park map, and an elevation chart are available in the event photos.
The event is free and will provide food and drinks including Tailwind and Gatorade; participants are asked to bring some of their own fuel. The aid station’s proximity to the parking lot allows runners to access supplies from a vehicle during the race. Race shirts are available for purchase for $25; the last day to reserve a shirt is July 30, 2026. Finishers may receive small giveaways such as car stickers and homemade medals.
There is no camping at Valley Falls State Park; camping is available at nearby Coopers Rock and Tygart Lake State Park. Volunteers are requested. Registration closes Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
