Event Overview
The Whitmore Lake Red, White & Blue Color Blast Run is a community-focused sporting event taking place in Michigan. The event features two primary distances starting and finishing at the Whitmore Lake Elementary School:
- 10 km run
- 5 km color blast run/walk
The event is organized as a fundraiser for the Whitmore Lake Kiwanis. Proceeds are used to fund scholarships for graduates of Whitmore Lake High School and to support Whitmore Lake Community Recreation.
Course Information
Due to road construction on Main Street, the start and finish lines are located at 1077 Barker Rd. The 5 km route includes a specific color zone where participants are sprayed with red and blue color powder. This color powder is also used at the start of the 5 km and at the finish line for all participants. Runners who prefer not to participate in the color aspect can inform volunteers along the route to avoid being sprayed. Since routes may be impacted by local construction, specific paths are subject to finalization.
Participation and Awards
This is a family-friendly event where strollers are permitted. Participants are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue clothing. All finishers receive a medal, and trophies are awarded to the top overall male and female finishers in both the 5 km and 10 km races. Event shirts are guaranteed for those who register by early June, while later registrants receive shirts on a first-come, first-served basis during packet pickup. The event is timed and scored by a professional management service and takes place regardless of rain, though severe weather may result in delays or cancellation.
