Whitehaven Harbour 5K
The Whitehaven Harbour 5K is a community road race held on 14 July 2026 at Whitehaven Harbourside. The event covers a single distance of 5 km on an officially measured and certified out-and-back course. The route follows the harbour front toward the Beacon and Haig Pit, then returns the same way. One short climb passes the candlestick area; that section includes low walls and a stretch of gravel. Aside from that climb the course is largely flat.
Registration is based at the Harbour Youth Project, located under the multi-storey car park and about five minutes from the start. Race numbers are issued at registration. Entries on the night are offered for an additional charge and are subject to a maximum field of 200 runners. Advance entry closes shortly before the event and standard entry fees apply; the listed price is £10 plus administration fees.
Facilities include parking in Whitehaven and toilet access in the registration area. Prize giving and light refreshments take place at the registration venue. Medals are presented to all finishers. Prize categories include first, second and third male and female, veteran awards in five-year age groups from age 35, and male and female junior prizes for ages 11 to 17.
