The Whitefish Lake Sprint Triathlon takes place in Whitefish, Montana, with activities centered at City Beach on Lakeside Boulevard on June 27, 2026. The event offers a standard sprint distance and a team relay option and is open to athletes ages 13 to 99.

  • Swim: 1/2 mile point-to-point in Whitefish Lake; starts and finishes at City Beach.
  • Bike: 20K out-and-back along Whitefish Lake; mostly flat with four miles of hills.
  • Run: 5K two-lap course; starts and ends at City Beach.

The swim follows a triangular route marked by buoys; swimmers are instructed to keep buoys on their left shoulder. The bike course is out-and-back on public roads along the lake. A police officer will manage traffic at the Edgewood and Wisconsin intersection. Organizers advise riding on the road rather than the bike path because of pedestrians and pets. Cones and a volunteer will mark the bike turnaround on E Lakeshore Drive; the left shoulder near that point is next to a steep drop-off. Riders should keep to the right and pass on the left while announcing passes.

The run route follows Lakeside Boulevard and Dakota Avenue with a two-lap layout that returns to the transition area for the finish. A multiweek beginner clinic is offered, including course recon, group workouts, a training plan, a bike maintenance session, transition practice, and a meet and greet. The clinic has a stated cost.
