Bassenthwaite Triathlon
The Bassenthwaite Triathlon takes place on Saturday 15 August 2026 at the Bassenthwaite Sailing Club on Bassenthwaite Lake, Cockermouth, Cumbria CA13 9YD. The sailing club provides a family friendly base with free on site parking, a clubhouse serving food and drinks and competitor welfare facilities including showers.
The event offers short and standard individual distances plus relay entries:
- Short: 750 m swim, 16 km bike, 6 km run
- Standard: 1500 m swim, 32 km bike, 10 km run
Swims are held in open water at Bassenthwaite and wetsuits are compulsory for both distances. Bikes ride on undulating public roads; helmets are compulsory and normal traffic laws apply. Bike and run routes are signposted and marshalled. The run course starts and finishes at the sailing club and normally includes drinks stations.
Entry fees listed for the event are £60 for the sprint individual and £65 for the standard individual. Sprint relay and standard relay entry fees are also published. There are no entries on the day and non BTF members must purchase a British Triathlon race pass prior to the event. Registration closes 14 August 2026.
