Where Da Gold At? Backyard Ultra - Saraland, AL
This event is an official Backyard Ultra held March 13–14 at 98 Station St, Saraland, AL. The format requires runners to complete a 4.1667-mile loop every hour on the hour; laps continue each hour until only one runner remains.
The field is strictly capped at 75 runners because of limited trailhead parking. Registration closes Fri, Mar 12 at 11:59 PM CT.
Finisher recognition is awarded at progressive milestones based on completed loops:
- 4 loops: Half Marathon finisher medal
- 7 loops: Marathon and premium event T-shirt
- 12 loops: 50-mile mark and custom Gold Coin
- 24 loops: 100-mile club and Amateur Sketch Belt Buckle The final remaining runner receives the event champion prize.
Basecamp and logistics details include permission for one standard 10x10 pop-up tent or canopy per runner for crew and gear, and a prohibition on heavy machinery. The course uses the Jacinto Port Trail System; it is described as flat and wide enough to pass, with changing conditions after dark. Race basecamp will provide a range of nutrition and hydration options including pizza, pickles, candy, trail mix, multiple hot meals, water, pickle juice, sodas, and Tailwind.
