Where Da Gold At? Backyard Ultra
Where Da Gold At? Backyard Ultra is an official Backyard Ultra held March 13–14 at 98 Station St, Saraland, AL. The race uses repeated 4.1667-mile loops run every hour on the hour; competitors must complete each loop within the hour to continue until only one runner remains.
The field is strictly capped at 75 runners because of limited trailhead parking. Runners may set up one standard 10x10 pop-up tent or canopy at the trailhead basecamp for crew and gear. The course uses the Jacinto Port Trail System; it is described as flat, wide enough to pass, and becoming noticeably different after dark.
The event awards themed finisher items based on the number of loops completed:
- Half Marathon : 4 loops to earn the official finisher medal
- Marathon : 7 loops to earn the premium event T-shirt
- 50 Mile Mark : 12 loops to earn a heavy custom Gold Coin
- 100 Mile Club : 24 loops to earn the Amateur Sketch Belt Buckle
- Last Man Standing : the champion receives the event grand prize
Basecamp provisions include pizza, pickles, candy, trail mix, multiple hot meals, and hydration options such as water, pickle juice, sodas, and Tailwind. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
