About the race
The Wheat City Run is a community running event held in Brandon, Manitoba. The routes begin and end at Dinsdale Park (with Stanley Park also noted as a central location), taking participants through scenic urban streets, downtown areas, and local parks.
The event offers a variety of distances to accommodate different running goals:
- Half Marathon (21.1 km): A scenic route through Brandon’s neighborhoods with a 3-hour maximum time limit.
- 10 km: A fast-paced course designed for endurance, featuring a 1.5-hour maximum time limit.
- 5 km: A manageable distance that winds through the heart of the city.
- 0.5 Mile Fun Run: A short, high-energy dash focused on family participation rather than speed.
The event serves as a fundraiser, with 100% of profits donated to Samaritan House Ministries to support food security and homelessness initiatives in Brandon. Participants in all categories receive a race shirt and a finisher medal. The 5 km, 10 km, and Half Marathon events are chip-timed and include hydration stations and cheering zones along the course. Additionally, spectators and participants can access a BBQ on-site, with proceeds also benefiting the charitable cause. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
