Whakatāne Bush Half Marathon : Whakatāne Athletics and Harriers
The Whakatāne Bush Half Marathon takes place on Saturday 18 July 2026 and starts from the shores of Ōhope. The course runs through native bush tracks, meandering gravel roads and smooth sealed stretches around Whakatāne and Ōhope.
The organiser is the team behind Toi’s Challenge. The start and finish location is the Ōhope Christian Fellowship Church. All participants who cross the finish line receive a finishers medal regardless of distance.

Online entries close at 11.59pm on Thursday 16 July 2026. Standard entry fees are stated as $50 for the half marathon, $30 for the 10 km and $20 for the 5 km, with a $10 late entry surcharge noted after 30 June. Late entries can also be made on race morning at an additional $10 and race day entries will be cash only.
Participants should bring their own cup or water bottle; water stops are provided and collapsible cups will be available for a nominal fee. A sausage sizzle fundraiser will operate at the start/finish offering drinks and other options. Limited parking is available at the start/finish and additional parking is available at Maraetotora Park and along Pohutukawa Avenue in Ōhope.
