Toi's Challenge : Julian's Berry Farm and Cafe 2026
Toi's Challenge is an annual trail event held in Whakatāne, New Zealand, organised by the Whakatane Athletics and Harriers Club. The main course follows the Nga Tāpuwae o Toi track, a route named after a Māori chief who lived in the area about 800 years ago. The route passes coastal and bush scenery and includes varied, rugged terrain.
The principal distance is approximately 18 km, shorter than a half-marathon, with a total ascent measured at just under 1000 m. The event offers several entry formats to accommodate different preferences and group sizes, including individual runs, a two-person team relay and a walk. A shorter 6 km option is also available.
The 2026 running of Toi's Challenge takes place in November, with the event date listed as Sunday, November 15, 2026. Entry fees vary by event type and by registration period, with different early, normal and late pricing tiers shown for each race option. The event is based in Whakatāne and lists a local address for event location details. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
