Toi's Challenge 2026
Toi's Challenge is an annual trail running event held each November in Whakatāne, New Zealand. The event is organised by the Whakatane Athletics and Harriers Club and follows the Nga Tāpuwae o Toi track along coastal and bush terrain. The main trail course covers roughly 18 kilometres with just under 1000 metres of total elevation gain. The route is described as more rugged than a road half marathon and passes through coastal and forested sections.
The event program includes multiple options:
- 18 km Julian's Berry Farm and Cafe individual run
- 18 km walk
- 18 km two person team relay, price per runner
- 6 km Robinson Law 6 km event
Registration fees vary by entry period. For the 18 km individual run the published fees are NZ$70 early, NZ$80 normal, and NZ$90 late. The 18 km walk follows the same fee bands. The two person team relay is priced per runner at NZ$40 early, NZ$45 normal, and NZ$50 late. The 6 km entry is listed at NZ$20 standard and NZ$25 late.
