Westport Triathlon Overview
The Westport Triathlon is a multisport event taking place in Westport, featuring diverse courses through coastal and scenic areas. Participants can choose between two primary race categories: the National Series Olympic distance and the Super Sprint distance.
Individual participants and relay teams can enter the competition. The event utilizes different terrains for each segment, including open water, road cycling, and a dedicated Greenway for the footrace.
Course Distances

- Olympic Distance: Includes a 1500m swim in Clew Bay, a 40km cycle towards Croagh Patrick, and a 10km run.
- Super Sprint: Includes a 400m swim in Clew Bay, a 20km cycle towards Croagh Patrick, and a 5km run.
Route Details
The swimming portion of both races takes place in the waters of Clew Bay. The cycling segment follows an out-and-back route moving towards Croagh Patrick. The final running discipline is held along the Westport Greenway, providing a designated path for the athletes to reach the conclusion of the race.
