MTC Abhartach
MTC Abhartach is a single day ultra run held on 16th May 2027. The route covers 46.7 miles with approximately 1,941 ft of ascent and 1,754 ft of descent. The course starts at Westport Woods Hotel & Spa and finishes at Murphys Hotel, Tobercurry. It is the 10th day of the fourteen day MTC MizMal series and forms part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge.
Competitor numbers are limited to 20 regular entries plus an allowance of 20 MizMal entrants, giving a maximum field of 40. The event uses preset cut off times at checkpoints based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who do not meet this requirement will be withdrawn. URL provides tracking devices with SOS capability for competitor monitoring.
Entrants must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps as provided by the organiser, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and an emergency food pack. The race is cup free so competitors must use a reusable cup. Example checkpoint food may include malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water.
Entry fees are stated in the event information as £90 for the standard entry and £155 for an upgraded package that includes a race shirt and hi viz jacket.
