Westport Sea 2 Summit : event information
Westport Sea 2 Summit is an adventure race based in Westport, County Mayo, that combines road running, cycling and a mountain hike using local landmarks such as Croagh Patrick, Clew Bay, the Sheaffry Mountains and the new Greenway. The event is organised by the Westport Plaza & Castlecourt Hotel Resort.
There are two separate races with three competition categories in each: Advanced, Intermediate and Beginner. The two race options are:
- S2S Spirit: 31 km : 4k run, 8k cycle, 4k mountain, 11k cycle, 4k run
- S2S Supreme: 56 km : 4k run, 8k cycle, 7k mountain, 35k cycle, 4k run
Both courses start at the Westport Plaza & Castlecourt Hotel and use a sequence of transition points for run, cycle and mountain stages. The Supreme route includes the full ascent and descent of Croagh Patrick from Murrisk and a longer, hillier cycle section; the Spirit route uses a shorter ridge hike and a shorter home cycle.
Route maps are provided segment by segment for run, cycle and mountain stages. Safety guidance and equipment advice are published for the mountain section. The event works with local stakeholders to limit erosion on Croagh Patrick, reduces Supreme entries to lower footfall, and requests that participants stay on defined paths, respect drinking water sources, follow Leave No Trace principles, and note that dogs are not allowed on the mountain.
