Event Overview
The Westover Run the Runway event is scheduled for October 3, 2026. It takes place at Westover Metropolitan Airport in Chicopee, Massachusetts. The main feature is a 5K run or walk across an operational federal military installation.
Course and Events
The course is flat and paved. The event includes an in-person 5K and a Virtual 5K. Participants using wheelchairs or strollers are welcome, though they are asked to plan for extra arrival time for security clearance. The start and finish are at the airport's civilian side, but the course goes into a military zone.
Security and Logistics
Due to the location on a military installation, security procedures are in place. Pre-run vetting is mandatory, and a Real ID is required for entry. No personal items are allowed on the course during the run, but a key and bag check is provided. Pets are not permitted.
Supporting Information
Proceeds from the event support the Westover Galaxy Community Council, which assists Westover military families and helps promote the 2027 Great New England Air Show. A charity Car Show with music, food trucks, and raffles will be held on the same day starting at 9:00 AM. Participants who register by September 1 receive a race t-shirt.
