West Concord Wife Carrying Competition
The West Concord Wife Carrying Competition is a head to head obstacle event for teams of two held in West Concord, Minnesota on July 25, 2026. The course is just under 300 yards long and includes dry obstacles that require climbing over or under objects, plus one wet obstacle that is most likely muddy.
Teams do not have to be married or romantically involved, and entrants may be any duo rather than strictly a man and a woman. Two teams race head to head and the faster team advances to the next heat until two teams remain to compete for a cash prize.
Carrying techniques are flexible. Many teams use the Estonian carry with the carried partner upside down on the carrier's back, but piggyback and fireman-style carries are also permitted.
Entry requires registration for each partner; both partners should register together and each must sign a waiver. There will be an additional waiver to sign in person before the event. Registration opens May 26, 2026 and closes July 24, 2026. The registration fee is $15. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
