West Coast SUCK : overview
West Coast SUCK is a twelve-hour overnight fitness event held May 1–2, 2026 in the Jacumba Hot Springs area of the Anza Borrego Desert, CA (postal code 91934). The event is run as a continuous, non-stop challenge that takes participants over miles of dark trails and includes heavy carries, military-style calisthenics and strongman-style work. The course runs through natural outdoor terrain and may include variable conditions. Participants who complete the full twelve hours receive a Challenge Coin.
Format, gear and policies
The event requires participants to carry mandatory gear and self-supply for the full duration. Mandatory items include a ruck sack or backpack (organizers recommend about 60 L), a hydration pack (70–100 oz recommended), two sandbags (men 2 x 50 lb, women 2 x 35 lb), two 5-gallon buckets, a headlamp, trail shoes, work gloves, duct tape and pliers, workout clothing and warm/cold weather layers. There are no aid stations, so participants must bring plenty of food, water and electrolytes for the entire 12 hours. Suggested additional items include a snake bite kit, poison ivy/oak remedy and a first aid kit. Gut Check Fitness, LLC states that there are no refunds or transfers for this event.
